4 Summer Fashion Trends

Summer is a time to loosen up your style and try out some light, breezy and colorful styles! The darker, moodier hues of fall of winter have made way for a riot of vibrant prints, patterns and textures. I’m sharing four trends that will be all over the runways and in your favorite stores this season:

Dress: Color-block bias cut dress // Sandals: Strappy nude sandals

Color-blocking is an eye-catching trend that dresses up the most simple of silhouettes like this elegant bias-cut sheath dress from the “Cushnie for Target” collaboration that is in Target stores and online right now. Did you know that the placement of color blocks on items of clothing act as an optical illusion and can make you appear slimmer or taller? Sign me up!

Skirt: Cream Lace // Blouse: similar here // Headband: Similar here //Necklace: Gold braided chain

Lace is a feminine fabric that looks lovely on any woman regardless of age. This soft and dainty skirt is from one of my favorite purveyors of lady-like styles. While cream and white shades are de rigueur, I have seen several iterations of lacy looks rendered in trendy neon shades. It’s so refreshing to see a classic fabric made modern with a splash of color.

Dress: Tropical print maxi // Bag: Lemon lucite clutch // Shoes: White braided heels

Tropical hues are always a welcome sight in the heat of summer. This maxi dress is a showpiece in and of itself and needs very little to make it pop. I have paired it with chunky statement earrings and braided sandals that are a dupe for a much more expensive style popularized by one of the couture fashion houses this year!

Dress: Vintage inspired maxi // Hat: Large sun hat // Shoes: Two tone ankle strap

I remember wearing chintz print dresses lovingly sewn by my mother as a young girl, so I’m delighted to see their recent resurgence in popularity. Delicate floral prints, puff sleeves and ruffles adorn this pretty dress from the “LoveShackFancy” collaboration with “Target.” There’s something so timeless about a feminine maxi dress tied at the waist. Women have worn them for centuries and will probably continue to do so for many more!
