Irresistible Chocolate Cake

This is a family favorite in my home. It can be our little secret that it contains boxed cake mix! The addition of pudding mix and sour cream renders a cake with that homemade taste that we all love!

Equipment

  • 12 cup Bundt pan

Ingredients
  

  • 1 box chocolate fudge cake mix (18.25 oz)
  • 1 box chocolate instant pudding mix (3.9 oz)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup warm water
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • cups mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • baking spray (for misting the pan)
  • 1 can chocolate icing (only use half the container)
  • chocolate candies or sprinkles (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly mist a 12 cup Bundt pan with baking spray.
  • Place the cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, warm water and oil in a large mixing bowl. Blend with an electric mixer at low for 1 minute. Then increase the speed to medium for 2-3 minutes. The batter will be thick.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing it out with a spatula. Place the pan in the oven. Bake 45-50 minutes until it springs back when pressed lightly with your finger.
  • Remove the pan from the oven and allow the cake to cool for 20 minutes. Turn it out onto a plate and wait about 15 more minutes before icing with chocolate icing. You can add chocolate candies or sprinkles or just leave it plain
  • Enjoy thoroughly!
